Building 32 (EEE)
Building 32 is where the majority of the society's equipment is located and is where we spend the most time. It was refurbished extensively in 2025.
ECS occupies floors 3 and 4 of the building, as well as part of floor 1 (although SRO members are not granted access here).
Access
The main entrances to the building are open from 08:00 to 18:00 during the week. Outside these times, a valid ID card is required. All members of ECS have general access to the building.
To access the rooms listed below you must either be a member of staff or a postgraduate researcher in ECS, or have additional access added to your ID card. This is usually done yearly for members of the committee.
The society cupboard 32/3705A (located within 32/3705) is fitted with a lock. The keys are held by the committee.
Rooms
32/3705A (SRO cupboard)
A cupboard located within 32/3705. The cupboard is the one facing you as you leave the staircase at the bottom. Access via key.
32/3081 (Robot Arena) and 32/3082 (Fab Lab)
The society nominally has permission to use this for testing robots in the evenings and on weekends, assuming it has not been booked already, although we do not use it often. Access is with an ID card and by prior arrangement, and a SOP must be completed.
32/3027 (AICE Teaching Lab)
We do not use this space however the idea has been floated previously of using this for more practical meeting activities on Thursday evenings.
32/4027 and 32/4067
This is the postgraduate researchers' lab and office space. You will find you have to traverse this space often to go between places. Access via ID card.
32/4077 (Mary Campbell Room)
We meet here most weeks on Thursday evenings. The room must be booked via Outlook and the booking will be manually reviewed by the B32 research groups admin staff. There is a staircase immediately outside the "rear" entrance which takes you to the cupboard (32/3705A). Access via ID card.
